THE 10th ANNIVERSARY OF T-MAD’S MUSIC

On Sunday, August 11 1997, VH1 (back when it was still a music video station and not a reality show station) introduced the landmark series Behind The Music with two back-to-back episodes featuring MC Hammer and Milli Vanilli.

On Sunday, August 11 1997, T-Mad’s Music was introduced to the masses on the Internet. That’s right, it has been ten years since I created T-Mad’s Music. The site has gone through numerous looks and incarnations throughout the years. To celebrate the anniversary, I wanted to take a brief trip “back down memory lane”, as Minnie Riperton would say.

For a time T-Mad’s Music was literally the only place on the Internet where you could find detailed information on the eighties female funk and pop band Klymaxx and its members. Now the original members have their own website and former member Cheryl Cooley has her own sites as well. My fan-based Klymaxx site (which also featured the group Madame X) was a cult favorite on the Internet during its time thanks in large part to the participation of some of the actual members of the band itself including Lynn Malsby, Lorena Hardimon-Stewart, and Cheryl Cooley in the form of in-depth behind-the-scenes information on the group and the members. This in addition to my own research on the group (and the fact that I have all of their albums), plus some info volunteered by fans out there as well. I pride myself on having amassed all of that information on the group. I still have all of those pages so if anyone out there feels like twisting my arm, I’ll put it back up as part of T-Mad’s Music.

In addition to Klymaxx and Madame X, T-Mad’s Music was also the only place on the Internet to feature a site for the seventies New Orleans-based funk band Chocolate Milk. Action Speaks Louder Than Words, Girl Calling, Say Won’tcha, and other classic funk jams came from this band who worked with famed producer Allen Toussaint. Again thanks to research on my part, having all of their albums, and some tidbits and words of praise from a couple of the members, my Chocolate Milk site was the premiere place to go for info on this funk band.

I also had mini-sites dedicated to old school rap artist Kool Moe Dee and, briefly, a site dedicated to blues and soul singer Peggy Scott-Adams as well as pages dedicated to original Bride Of Funkenstein Dawn Silva and eighties Minneapolis funk band Mazarati. Help me reminisce about the evolution of T-Mad’s Music by checking out the links below to see some of the many pages from the earlier years of this site.

Keep in mind that any links on any of the pages below are old and are no longer active so clicking on them will not take you anywhere.
